Wide Path Camper – A Unique Way to Travel

I have tried various ways of transportation. Planes, trains, buses, cars, trams, ferries, and bicycles, but until the 9th of June, 2023, I had never tried a bicycle with a camper. On this day I travelled to Glyngøre, Salling in Denmark to experience the Wide Path Camper, which during my research turned out to be one of the most exciting bike caravans. I cycled for several hours on Salling and saw the big potential Wide Path Camper offers travellers.

Wide Path Camper is made in Denmark by Thomas Møller Pedersen Aps. Thomas and his son Michael have used their experiences with motorsport to improve the Wide Path Caravan into the third generation, optimising the product including reducing the size for a better travel experience. The caravan is only 1,5 meters long during transport and has a weight of around 40 kilograms. The caravan is constructed using lightweight and durable materials such as fiberglass and carbon fiber, reducing overall weight while maintaining structural integrity. The exterior is coated with a high-quality white finish, reflecting sunlight and keeping the interior cool.

A bike caravan makes it possible to reach places you can’t do with a caravan for cars, for example, scenic bike routes where cars are not allowed. You also have the possibility to be closer to nature, especially when travelling in countries with less restrictive rules on where you can park for sleeping. Travelling by bicycle is not only environmentally friendly, but it is also a way to save a lot of money. Instead of expensive planes, trains, and taxis, you can get rewarded by travelling slow and at your own pace. With a camper attached to the bike, you can save a lot more, especially in countries where comfortable accommodation is very expensive. Northern European countries, the US, and Canada come to mind as I write this article.

The Wide Path Camper offers a number of add-ons including solar panels, that makes it possible to charge the battery of the electronic bike as you travel, instead of having to find a hotel or another place to charge it. The wide path camper is starting at 3.999,99 €, but it is possible to rent it as well, starting at DKK499 for one night. I can definitely recommend it to try it, at least for a one-day trip. It might give you a new preferred way to travel and open new travel possibilities you might not have thought about before.
