The White Horse Residence, Gambia

The White Horse Residence is a small 8-room (“seven exclusive king size bedrooms and one family suite with two bedrooms”) resort in the Gambia I stayed for two nights in 2018 after researching the best places to stay in the country. The White Horse Residence has an impressive 5/5 Tripadvisor guest satisfaction score and 9,2/10 on Booking.com which is perhaps even more impressive as you can only review the hotel on Booking.com if you have stayed there.

The first thing that impressed me was the warm welcome. The barman is top professional, service minded and actually one of the best hotel staff I have experienced in my travels. My room was a comfortable place to sleep for two nights and had a nice rain shower. WiFi is free at the hotel as you would expect in 2019 where the internet is vital for many travellers. The food was better than I expected with kind service to follow. There is a large swimming pool with a beautiful view as another way to relax, while another of the best selling points is the beach, located approximately 150 metres from the resort. It’s lovely and quiet. I didn’t see any tourists and is certainly something different than if you stay in Serrekunda near a beach full of tourists.

Overall a great, highly recommended place to stay in the Gambia. Haddy and her team have created something special for people seeking a relaxing place to relax while exploring the Gambia.

I visited the Gambia on a cheap charter flight with Danish adventurer, Claus Andersen. You can follow his adventures on TravelingClaus.com and Rejsetossen.dk
