Strandhotel Glücksburg
Strandhotel Glücksburg is a 4-star hotel close to the Danish border, set on the beaches of Flensburg Fjord. I drove from North Jutland in Denmark to the hotel. A pleasant drive of just over three hours. The first thing that impressed me about the hotel was the beautiful building. The history goes all the way back to 1872 and I liked the château-style design a lot.
As soon as I stepped inside, I received a warm welcome and the check-in went quickly. While the building and service were good first impressions, the best thing about this hotel was my room. All 33 rooms at Strandhotel Glücksburg are individually tailored and I liked the design a lot. An attractive Scandinavian design, wooden floor, comfortable bed, modern bathroom and complimentary high-speed WiFi.
The hotel’s restaurant, Felix is included in the Michelin guide and has been awarded with a hat in the other prestigious guide, Gault Millau. In 2008, the hotel went through a successful renovation and today has a nice wellness area. Although it was approximately 10 years ago, the hotel is well-maintained and very comfortable. A great experience to have a portfolio close to my home country of Denmark.
