Yemen is experiencing a difficult time, and it lacks truly great 5-star hotels. One of the best is the former Taj Hotel, Sheba, which still has very good rooms and friendly staff.

Arrival experience: Security check, quick check-in. Not escorted to the room.

What I liked: The nice rooms and that things worked better than expected.

What about the food: The basic breakfast buffet could easily be improved.
