Río Serrano Hotel + Spa, Patagonia

Located close to the Serrano River, Río Serrano Hotel + Spa offers guests a special experience in the heart of Chilean Patagonia. Situated just 4 kilometers from the southern entrance of Torres del Paine National Park, this family-owned establishment blends comfort with beautiful surroundings. Chile is a great destination for travellers seeking diverse landscapes and unique experiences. Stretching over 4,300 kilometers along South America’s western edge, Chile offers a lot for travellers looking for nature experiences, with the stunning Torres del Paine perhaps being the most famous.

My experience started as I arrived late after a long journey by bus from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales, followed by a trip by car to the hotel. The hotel has 108 elegantly designed rooms, categorized into Superior, Standard, and Standard Plus. The hotel has evolved from a modest 20-room inn in 2002 into now having 108, which is surely something different, also from an experience point of view.

Each room is decorated with local materials, including leather, wood, and stone, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. Large windows provide panoramic views of the Paine Massif, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the beautiful landscape from the comfort of their rooms. I was impressed with my room, which had a comfortable bed and a great rain shower in the bathroom, with a comfort level comparable to a good chain hotel.

For dining options, the on-site “Qawasqar” restaurant and “Bar De Agostini” offer menus inspired by the area’s natural bounty. Under the expertise of Chef Walter Leal, dishes are crafted using fresh, local ingredients, providing guests with an authentic taste of the region.

In terms of facilities, guests can relax at the hotel’s spa, which offers a range of treatments. The spa facilities include a sauna and a 270 m2 long swimming pool, providing a nice environment to relax, for example, after a day of exploring the stunning nearby Torres del Paine National Park, which I did on a bike booked with the company Patagonia Zero Emission, which I can highly recommend.

Río Serrano Hotel + Spa collaborates with The Massif, a regional company specializing in excursions within Torres del Paine National Park. Guests can choose from a variety of activities, including trekking, navigation, and special interest tours, which can showcase the park’s diverse landscapes and wildlife. Additionally, transfer services are available to ensure convenient connectivity for travellers.

The hotel’s great location makes it an ideal base for exploring Torres del Paine. It is approximately 83 kilometers from Puerto Natales and 325 kilometers from Ibañez del Campo Airport in Punta Arenas. The service at the hotel is great, and I appreciate the kind service I received from the staff.

The hotel has a high guest satisfaction score on Booking.com, which is impressive and probably the main reason I was very interested in staying at the hotel. You can have a very beautiful hotel in pictures, but the overall guest satisfaction score is very important as a big indication of how the hotel is going to be.

I am thankful for having experienced Torres del Paine National Park, and staying at Rio Serrano Hotel + Spa was a great decision. I can highly recommend it to discerning travellers looking for a comfortable place to stay near the famous sight.
