Forum Homini
Forum Homini offers a unique and luxurious cave hotel experience in the Cradle of Humankind, South Africa. Designed to blend with its natural surroundings, it features stylish cave-style rooms, fine dining at the renowned Roots restaurant, and a beautiful setting ideal for relaxation and exploration. With its combination of luxury, cuisine, and natural beauty, Forum Homini is a great country hotel in South Africa.
My arrival experience: I was welcomed warmly and checked in quickly before being escorted to my room. Upon arrival, I was given welcome amenities and a 1L bottle of water.
What I liked the most: The unique design, the breakfast and the attention to detail.
What about the food: Forum Homini is a unique hotel with a concept I have not seen in any of the 1,000+ hotels I have stayed at. A 5-course breakfast of high quality. I normally don’t like breakfast, but this was a wonderful way to start the day. The menu changes daily for all meals. Eat Out has named Their Roots restaurant one of the best restaurants in the Johannesburg area. I really enjoyed it and would rank it on a level with a Michelin-recommended restaurant, just below a star.
What about the service: The hotel has professional staff in all areas, from the Mozambican security guy to the General Manager. Attention to detail, such as bath salt, welcome amenities and a daily printed menu is very impressive.
What about the rooms: They are uniquely designed. My suite had a flat-screen TV, comfortable bed, double rain shower, bathtub, bath salts, Molton Brown products, mini bar, and a fireplace.
Number of rooms: 14.
Type of property: Country hotel.
Location: Muldersdrift, South Africa. An hour from Johannesburg.
How to get there? You can get there with Uber, but Uber is not available for a ride back. Instead, I highly recommend Jelani for transfers. +27 (011) 954-3651 – info@jelani.co.za
Facilities: None. This property is about great food and relaxation.
Complimentary internet: Yes, and surprisingly fast.
Affiliations: None, but could, in my opinion, be a member of Relais & Châteaux.
My overall impression: Great experience. A unique experience and a place to stay if you love Relais & Châteaux properties, like I do.
