Courtyard by Marriott Curacao, Willemstad

I have visited every country in the world according to three separate lists. One of them is FIFA’s. Curaçao is a Dutch territory in the Caribbean, which I visited in 2013. At that time, the hotel featured in this article did not exist. In June 2024, the Courtyard by Marriott Curaçao officially opened its doors in Willemstad, introducing a modern lodging option that blends contemporary design with a central location close to Willemstad’s historic center.
My experience started with a friendly welcome at the reception. One of my health issues is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, and the receptionist was very kind, showing me different rooms before finding one that was ideal for me. It had a balcony, which is especially beneficial in newly built hotels, as air circulation helps reduce VOCs in the room.
The room was very impressive, featuring a comfortable bed, a work desk, a TV, and a modern bathroom with a fantastic rain shower. The WiFi was complimentary, as one would expect these days.
The hotel’s location is within walking distance of Willemstad’s UNESCO World Heritage historic city center, known for its colorful 18th-century buildings along Harborfront Street. From there, beaches can be reached by a long walk or a short drive.
The hotel has a total of 152 rooms, including two suites, as well as a restaurant and a large outdoor swimming pool. The service at the reception was excellent, and I can see why the hotel is highly ranked on Booking.com.
As part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, guests at Courtyard by Marriott Curaçao can earn and redeem points when staying at this hotel.
Overall, it’s an impressive hotel with well-designed rooms, great service, and a convenient location for exploring Curaçao.
